UNIVERSITY SERVICE:
Clinical Service:
Clinical duty involves direct supervision of 2 residents and students on each rotation (numbering between 5 and 7 students). Clinical supervision includes morning and evening rounds, oversight of individual case management and treatments in the hospital, out-case appointments, regular phone updates on in-clinic cases with referring veterinarians and owners and frequent phone consultation with veterinarians and private owners. Emergency duty is primarily provided in back-up service to the primary emergency clinician and the on-call house officer(s). Back-up emergency duty is provided during all after-hours when on clinical duty. Clinical duty responsibilities are rotated on an off duty every 6 weeks with other medicine clinicians.
